Crystal Habit / Mode of Occurrence

Typically occurs as striated short prismatic crystals, also botryoidal to spherical, columnar, fibrous, granular, and massive. Twinning on {110} is common.

Fun Facts

It's one of the few common barium minerals that effervesces (fizzes) with dilute hydrochloric acid, unlike the more common barite.
